What Is Coaching

A structured conversation that provides you with new insights to help you unlock your potential and maximise your performance.

Firstly, let me say what it’s not.  It is not mentoring, counselling or therapy.  I will not be offering guidance, advice or my own opinion about your situation, problem, or issue.  Coaching is a non-directive supportive and collaborative partnership.  You will identify your goals, and I will help you to identify actions needed to enable you to change and develop to achieve your goals.

Although there’s a variety of definitions, there are some generally agreed principles of executive coaching:

  • Personal factors and issue may be come up, but the emphasis is on your work-based performance.
  • Coaching activities have both organisational and individual goals, for individuals to assess their strengths and development areas.
  • It’s a skilled activity, which should be delivered by those trained in coaching skills.

Coaching can help you develop your strengths even further to maximise not only yours but also your teams’ performance.  Great for individuals and great for the organisation.

Coaching can also help individuals who want to develop their potential and career outside of an organisation. By helping them identify the areas of strength that they most enjoy using most at work, they can explore other potentials roles where they can utilise these strengths even more.
